Grace, in human understanding, is the opportunity to change after failing, but we demand that God’s grace shows us more lenience. How are we to expect people to change after one mistake but we expect God to show us mercy when we never change! It must be that we forgive over and over, because Christ forgives over and over, or we must, in turn, not make the same mistakes over and over ourselves!
The Bible is very clear on how we are to treat others, either we forgive because we have been forgiven, or we choose to take on the wrath of God ourselves. The moment you feel that you cannot forgive, is the moment you hold pride higher than God.
Learn to grow from mistakes, never going back to what you once did. Because grace does change us, it works in ways we never imagined, but we must be willing to suffer the price of that change. For it will mean that we surrender all that we think is owed to us and give everything that is owed, back to Christ.
Forgiveness starts when we can cry out to God, pleading that He spare those who spit on us and seek our destruction. Love is the root of forgiveness and that love must be so ingrained in the reality of Christ, that is literally gives life to all those who come in contact with it."
